Gift Guide Age Recommendation:  14+

I’ve been a tea drinker since I was a freshman in high school.  I’ve tried many, many brands.  I’ve had the horrible teas that you get served at cheap diners.  I’ve had tea from Ireland, tea from England (a lovely experience).  I’ve had tea IN Ireland and IN England… the teas taste the same there as they do in your home.  My favorite tea distributor went out of business a few years ago due to the economic down turn (they lost a lot of their suppliers who went belly-up).  I’ve been struggling to find a replacement company.  My search has ended.

Teatulia’s teas are exquisite.  The flavor is bold, but not overpowering.  I love that each tea bag can be used to brew 2 (yes, two!) cups of tea.  The Earl of Bengal has just the right amount of Bergamot.  I love how it is so mellow and aromatic.   The Bengal Breakfast is a stronger tea – perfect to replace that morning cup of coffee and give you a good jump start to your day!  The Peppermint Tea is very crisp and is great at settling an upset tummy (it’s also my husband’s favorite type of tea since he likes to avoid caffeine in the evening).  The Lemongrass Tea is very clean on the palate and, since it is caffeine free, is a great addition to a warm bath before bedtime.  Trust me on that.

I think that these teas would be loved by just about anyone.  Tea lovers will fall in love with these fabulous teas.  Novice tea drinkers will, most likely, become tea lovers by drinking these teas.  High school students and college students would appreciate a way to ingest caffeine in lower doses (it is really quite horrible to finish studying and not be able to fall asleep because of the jitters).  And, since tea can be loved by many different types of people, across many generations, you really can’t go wrong with gifting a few canisters to your grandma, dad, uncle or cousin.

They’re Smiling; I’m Smiling. I Hope You Get a Smile on Your Face Too!!

I loved talking with Linda Appel Lipsius about Teatulia’s vision and their lovely teas.  Today, I can’t stop thinking about the women working the tea gardens in Northern Bangladesh.  Their story makes me happy.

Fahima Begum – The Pursuit Of A Dream

Fahima dreamed of a decent house, but her husband struggled to meet the family’s basic needs. So, with a desire to help her family, Fahima joined the KKTE Dairy Cooperative in 2005. She took the ‘loan’ of a milking cow, and sold the milk in the village market, and cow dung back to the garden. With the success of her first venture, she loaned more cows, and today she is the proud owner of a house made of brick walls, with a proper kitchen and sanitation. Both of her children now attend primary school and her home is lit by solar power. She has finally attained the home of her dreams; her “Shopner Bari”.

These pictures are all of Fahima Begum.  Doesn’t she look happy?  She has accomplished so much for herself and her family.  I’m smiling right now.  I wanted to share in the hopes that you smile too.  This story and these wonderful pictures have made my day special.

Best wishes,
