Home Style Hash Brown Casserole
Cheesy and delicious describes this home style hash brown casserole ! I think this is good as a side dish for dinner or breakfast. This makes a large casserole so sometimes I just divide it in half and freeze half to bake later.
Home Style Hash Brown Casserole
Ingredients
- 2 pounds chunk style (or Southern Style) frozen hash brown potatoes, partially thawed
- 16 ounces sour cream
- 1 stick of butter, melted
- 1 can cheddar cheese soup
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- 1 small onion, chopped ( or a handful of dried onion flakes)
Instructions
- Mix all of the ingredients together.
- Pour into a greased 9 by 13 casserole baking dish.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour.

I have been making this casserole for 25 yrs..and have put it in a local cook book ..& have given it to many people.The only difference is that i put a crumb topping on it..which is melted butter & crushed corn flakes.
I got this recipe about 25 years ago too! Everyone loves it and it so easy. I like to freeze half of it and bake later so its a great make ahead dish too!
I make it using cream of mushroom soup and shredded cheddar instead of cheese soup. I combine melted margarine and Ritz crackers for a crumb topping. Delicious!
