Review

The Kuhn Rikon Veggie Cutting Board and Paring Knife Set is one of the cutest cutting boards I have ever seen.  It is available in Eggplant, Green Pepper and Tomato.  The set comes with one cutting board and two sheathed paring knives (one serrated; one straight edge).

I love the fact that the cutting board has a ridge along the edge.  I’ve found this very helpful when dealing with juicy foods such as tomatoes and pineapple.  It is really nice to just dump the juices in the sink and not have to wipe down a sticky counter!  Best of all, the whole set is dishwasher safe!  I love it when I don’t have to hand wash anything after dinner.  I also really like that the cutting board can be flipped over and used for something else without having to rinse it off.  It’s nice to have tomatoes in a salad that don’t taste like garlic from the pasta sauce.  Not that I’ve ever had that problem…

The quality of the items is above average.  The cutting board is light weight, yet durable.  And, the knives are very sharp!  (The mommy in me has to remind you to supervise your kiddos if they are handling these knives.  They are really, really sharp!)

Since the knives are so sharp, I am a huge fan of the knife sheaths.  I like being able to toss these in a drawer and not worry about slicing my fingers looking for them later.

I think that this would be a wonderful gift for the college student in your life who is starting out on their own (and in need of EVERYTHING).  The fun colors and shapes would also make this a great gift for the budding chef in your family.  And, since I believe there is no such thing as too many knives or cutting boards, I can’t imagine anyone who cooks not liking this colorful gift!
